Award Description: The purpose is the construction of street activities within low-income areas (70% area low-moderate income) that is predominantly residential. Road construction will provide temporary work with approximately 16 persons employed during the construction phase. Project Area is Chico Street between King and Owens streets, Owens Street between Chico Street to East 18th Street, Dolores Street between Beale Avenue to Gage Street and Ereka Street between King Street and Gage Street.
Project Description: Work on project is projected to begin on October 12, 2009. No description of jobs created until work on project commences. Staff expects job stats and funding expenditures in the 2nd quarterly report.
Infrastructure Description: The street construction activity will allow neighborhood residents an improved or more accessible road network for communitg to job centers for employment. In addition repaving these streets will increase auto fuel efficiency for neighborhood residents and by installing curb and gutter offer an incentive to walk versus automobile use which will reduce air polution and foster personal energy independence. Approximately 16 full-time persons will be employed during the construction phase of this activity.
