Award Description: 'Gang Activity Reduction Program' We are retaining 1 Deputy Sheriff to focus on investigation and charging of gang related crimes. We are retaining 1/2 Deputy Prosecutor to provide dedicated prosecution service from gang related crimes. Retain capacity to identify existing gangs in Thurston County, share information of gang activity between law enforcement agencies. We will enhance data collection and analysis capability in the Sheriff's Office and the Prosecutor's Office to track gang-related crime trends and patterns within Thurston County. We plan to continue to work with local law enforcement agencies, Washington State Patrol, FBI, DEA and other agencies to identify gang members who are active in Thurston County. Continue to investigate crimes which appear to be gang-related to provide evidence to the Prosecutor's Office. Work with Family and Juvenile Court, school resource officers and local youth serving agencies to identify youth gang members and interrupt pattern of gang membership.
Project Description: Continued investigation and coordination of gang related offenders that would have been discontinued without this grant. Continued prosecution of gang related cases that would have been discontinued without this grant.
