Award Description: Sylacauga City Recovery Act Justice Assistance Grant Program: Digital In-Car Camera
Project Description: The Sylacauga Police Department will achieve three (3) goals through the use of new digital in-car cameras. These goals are: (1) Upgrading existing equipment; (2) Increase the personal safety of its police officers; and (3) Prosecute individuals through the use of video evidence. This project involves obtaining five (5) Digital Patroller digital in-car camera systems that will record audio and video activities of police patrol officers, and a desktop computer for viewing and copying of video. Training, maintenance, and support is provided on an ongoing basis by the manufacturer, Digital Safety Technology, along with certified in-house staff. The C ity recently complketyed its review process and is prpearing to solicit bids for the required equipment.
