Project Description: During this quarter, the Pascua Yaqui Housing Department awarded a contract for $1,453,200 for construction of 14 Tribal Homes on the New Pascua Reservation. Contractor received notice to proceed on September 29, 2009. No actual construction costs were performed / invoiced. Relocation of families were conducted during the month of August and September 2009. Relocation costs included are: moving supplies, utility assistance and mobile storage containers.
Jobs Summary: The proposed project will spur construction that will create employment of low-income and unemployed persons. The Tribe has a Tribal Employment Rights office (TERO) that all contractors are required to submit labor force requests under a Tribal Ordinance. The TERO Department maintains an internal skills bank of persons that are looking for employment and that have registered based on skill and experience per construction trade. The estimated jobs created for the proposed project is 116. (Total jobs reported: 6)
