Project Description: During this quarter, the Pascua Yaqui Housing Department awarded a contract for $1,453,200 for construction of 14 Tribal Homes on the New Pascua Reservation. Contractor received notice to proceed on September 29, 2009. No actual construction costs were performed / invoiced. Relocation of families were conducted during the month of August and September 2009. Relocation costs included are: moving supplies, utility assistance and mobile storage containers.
Jobs Summary: The proposed project will spur construction that will create employment of low-income and unemployed persons. The Tribe has a Tribal Employment Rights office (TERO) that all contractors are required to submit labor force requests under a Tribal Ordinance. The TERO Department maintains an internal skills bank of persons that are looking for employment and that have registered based on skill and experience per construction trade.
