Award Description: The award ensures that Coburn Place can continue to provide holistic services to domestic violence victims living in its transitional housing program. Contract therapist will be rehired so that women can continue to benefit from ongoing counseling services. Funding will ensure that critical case managment, advocacy, and economic education services will be provided to residents. Women will benefit from a new collaborative partnership with Goodwill Works, whose staff will provide employment and vocational assessments and employment counseling. The goals are: 1. Women will increase earned income and decrease their dependence on TANF and otherentitlement income as a result of participation. 2. Women will gain new employment skills that lead them on a path to a job that meets their skills and interests. 3. Wimen will increase their knowledge of domestic violence. 4. Job loss will be prevented for specialized advocates. 5. Create new jobs for contract counselors and a counseling supervisor. Grant notification date was 9/28/09. No progress to report in this quarter.
Project Description: First quarter activities were limited because of grant notification. We notified therapists of funding so that they could return to work counseling Coburn Place residents. We notified our collaborative partner and began to develop the MOU. Case managers will continue their work.
