Award Description: ARRA - State Primary Care Office. The purpose of this award is to assist State Primary Care Offices in the coordination of activities for the delivery of primary care services, recruitment and retention of critical health care providers. OSHPD also assists HRSA in meeting their responsibilities under the cooperative agreement, which includes coordinating and making recommendations on the following specific activities: 1) Providing consultation in the planning, development, and evaluation of the cooperative agreement work plan; 2) Participating, as appropriate, in workgroups conducted during the period of the cooperative agreement; 3) Monitoring the activities of the work plan through progress review, meetings, and telephone conferences; and 4) Serving as the final authority for approval of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Recruitment and Retention (R&R) Applications, vacancies, placements, and final approval of all health professional shortage area designation actions.
Project Description: This grant will increase awareness of and interest in the National Health Service Corps (NHSC)/Federal Loan Repayment Program (FLRP).
Jobs Summary: Under the ARRA-Funded California Primary Care Office grant, a journey level analyst position at 1.0 Full Time Equivalent will be created. This position will be responsible to coordinate and carry out the following duties: 1) Increase awareness of and interest in the National Health Service Corps/Federal Loan Repayment Program (NHSC/FLRP), 2) Increase the number of NHSC Recruitment and Retention (R&R) Assistant Applications processed, 3) Increase recruitment and retention of providers placed in safety net/health centers, 4) Decrease R&R application error rate by 10%, thereby, increasing OSHPD’s processing time by 10%, and 5) Visit approximately 5% of sites with NHSC/FLRP placement.
