Award Description: ARRA Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), and Quality Improvement Funding consistent with the provisions of Section 640(a)(5) of the Head Start Act.
Project Description: Project Description ARRA COLA and Quality Funds will be used to: * Hire four full-time Program Aide. * Staff will attend the Early Childhood conference. This will enhance their knowledge in the field of early childhood. * Purchase two playground structures in Head Start and one in Early Head Start. * Six Teacher Assistants will enroll in Child Development classes to prepare and obtain their CDA credentials. * Hire a consultant as a math tutor to provide eight staff members tutorial classes. This will prepare them to pass the college exam requirements and obtain their Associate of Applied Science degree. * The Director of Education will develop professional development plans for teachers to obtain bachelor's degree. * Puchase supplies to equip teachers with adequate teaching materials which will heip provide quality services to children. * Increase the compensation and benefits of staff through a cost of living adjustment to improve the overall quality of the program. Quaterly Activities * Three Program Aides were hired. * All staff received a 1.84% cost of living adjustment effective July 24, 2009. * Registered staff for the Early Childhood Conference. * Have purchased 23.74% of the supplies requested.
