Award Description: Head Start- Serve 807 Children in Bryan, Carter, Coal, Love and Pontotoc Counties-Quality Improvement ARRA

Project Description: Quality Improvement:(1) 1.84% Cost of Living Increase to all Head Start staff to attract and retain qualified staff to enhance the quality of the program. (2) Professional Development Training-Providing Early Childhood Education courses for 35 Aides and 4 Advocates to meet the professional standards of section 648A(a)(1) of the Head Start Act.(3) Providing Master's Level Course work for our Mental Health/Disabilities Specialist to increase the qualifications and skills of staff providing services to children with disabilities. (4) Two approved additonal Family Service staff postions have been filled to reduce the family to staff ratio. One approved Maintenance Worker position has been filled to effectively maintain physical environments of the children served, including playgrounds.
