Award Description: CDBG-R. City of Jarrell City Sewer System
Project Description: The City of Jarrell Sewer Project has received CDBG funds in fiscal years 2004-2007. The use of CDBG-R funds will be used as a continuation/expansion of the existing project and will provide homes with improved sewer services. The project is currently underway and will utilize CDBG-R funds as they are made available. The project will preserve 20 jobs and create 6 new jobs for an additional 120 days. These jobs are construction jobs in the development of the city wide sewer system. The project will impact the area on a low-mod area national objective. Companies and potential companies have relocated outside of the City of Jarrell due to the lack of adequate water and sewer. Improving the sewer system will allow the recruitment of companies to the City which will potentially increase the number of job opportunities. The project will improve the environment by eliminating failing septic systems and potential health hazards to the residents of the community. It will also improve future development of both businesses and homes. The project is currently underway utilizing CDBG funds. Essential services will not be eliminated but rather improved following the completion of the project.
