Award Description: The Village of Wonder Lake, Thompson Road Watermain Extension. Install 10' extension south of Wonder Lake Road and east of Thompson Road, under the Nippersink Creek. The watermain extension will provide iproved water service to the Subdivisions of Sunrise Ridge Units 1-5. The watermain extension will include hydrants, connection to the existing water main, pressure reduction valves, copper service connections, tree clearing, gravel driveway replacement, culvert replacement, and erosion control measures to benefit 450 low-moderate income households, and 180 non-low moderate income households.
Project Description: No work has started at this time. An 8 Step Environmental Review is currently being conducted for the project in accordance with 24CFR Part 58.
Infrastructure Description: The project will meet the Title XXI of Division A and Section 1602 of ARRA by funding infrastructure that will provide long-term economic benefit to the Village. The Village will provide or retain jobs for workers that manufacture pipes and materials to be installed, construction jobs for the installation of the materials, and transportation/equipment operators for the delivery and installation of the equipment. The current economic conditions of recent origin pose a serious and immediate threat to the economic welfare of Wonder Lake. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has issued a violation to the Village or inadequate water supply and poor quality water. The financial burden placed on the Village has prevented the Village from resolving the violation. The project promosts health, enviornmental safety, community stabilization.
