Award Description: Community Development - CDBG-R funds will be used to promote community development and neighborhood stabilization in low-to-moderate income areas through the following activities: 1) Foreclosure Prevention; Small Business Assistance Loan Program; and Infrastructure Improvements. The Foreclosure Prevention activity is expected to assist low and moderate income homeowners facing foreclosure by providing financial management, loan restructuring and emergency loans of up to $7,500 for subsistence payments. The loans can be used only to pay delinquent mortgages and other eligible expenses. The Small Business Assistance Loan Program is intended to assist small and medium-sized businesses by providing technical assistance and loans up to $100,000. The program is expected to help create or retain a minimum of 56 jobs. The Infrastructure Improvement activity will result in street, sidewalk, and ADA improvements to segments of NW 32 Avenue, NW 38 Street, SW 248 Street, NW 71 Street, SW 216 Street, SW 264 Street to 268 Street, and SW 122 Avenue. These infrastructure improvements are located in targeted low-to-moderate income areas, known as Neighborhood Strategic Revitalization Areas (NRSAs).
Project Description: Selected sub-recipients and vendors to carry out the foreclosure prevention and the infrastructure improvement activities, and currently in the process of executing the contracts. The approval of the subrecipients for the Small Business Assistance Loan Program is pending final action by the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners on October 14, 2009.
