Award Description: Funds are allocated for five (5) primary purposes: Program Administration (City of Lynchburg, VA); Repair and rehabilitation of homes for low-moderate income persons (Lyn-CAG and Rebuilding Together): heating and fuel assistance for the elderly (Interfaith Outreach); child development and school readiness (United Way-Smart Beginnings); and corridor improvements in a low-moderate income neighborhood (5th Street Community Development Corp.)
Project Description: None. No projects have been started. Funds have been allocated by City Council to 6 sub-recipients (including Program Administration for the City.
Infrastructure Description: None of these projects meet the definition of infrastructure.
Jobs Summary: Lynchburg Community Action Group, Inc.: Two (2) jobs will be created at Lyn-CAG; Estimated construction and temporary jobs created and/or retained by this activity is 10. Local electricians, plumbers, contractors, and carpenters will be employed and building materials will be purchased from local businesses. Rebuilding Together Lynchburg: Estimated construction and temporary jobs created and/or retained by this activity is approximately 7. Local electricians, plumbers, contractors, and carpenters will be employed on a part-time, temporary basis. Interfaith Fuel Assistance for the Elderly: N/A United Way/Smart Beginnings: N/A Fifth Street Corridor Improvements: This activity will retain approximately 4 very temporary jobs (est.= to install streetscaping in a blighted neighborhood.
