Award Description: Community Development Block Grant-Recovery - community development
Project Description: Overall Purpose: provide 290 contracting opportunities to primarily local vendors through 600 lot clearances, 200 boardups and 25 demolitions to properties that do not comply with City codes and ordinances and have been deemed to be health and safety issues in low-moderate income areas. This project is being coordinated hand-in-hand with the City?s Hurricane Ike Disaster Recovery efforts to assist the community in the revitalization and rebuilding of our neighborhoods. Quarterly activities: City staff has solicited additional contractors to register with the City to provide the additional services needed through these funds. There are 17 contractors that have registered to work with the City. The Code Compliance Officers have been conducting the necessary inspections and notifications that must precede the City being able to contract the work to the vendors. City staff has completed the Environmental Review preliminary tiered assessments and is ready to publish notices for floodplain management and notice of intent to request release of funds. City staff is completing program implementation guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.
