Award Description: Community Development Block Grant Recovery Program, City of Monroe, Almyra Avenue Sanitary Sewer Replacement
Project Description: Replaced approximately 1370 feet of sanitary sewer in a low-income neighborhood.
Infrastructure Description: This project is preserving construction jobs on a temporary basis in addition to representing an investment in infrastructure that prevents a vital service (sanitary sewer) from becoming unusable and potentially hazardous. This work is also being done in an area where residents have been most impacted by the recession.
Jobs Summary: Eight (8) construction workers were required to complete the sanitary sewer work and city employees were required to administer the program as well as design and supervise the engineering work. The combined hours of the construction workers (on 40 hr work weeks) and the city employees (on 37.5 hour work weeks) added up to what was calculated as 1.5 jobs. (Total jobs reported: 2)
