Award Description: The purpose of the USDA award is to fund the purchase of equipment for a Federally Qualified Health Center site. The health center site is currently completing a small construction project to expand its pediatric program. This project includes the funding for the information technology equipment necessary for connectivity and efficiency in the new space; the chairs needed for the new lobby, and medical equipment. The total cost of the equipment is budgeted at $75,000 of which $50,000 is provided through ARRA funding. The remaining equipment will be purchased with operating reserves.
Project Description: For this project, total equipment was budgeted at $75,000 with $50,000 provided from ARRA funding. Current cumulative expenditures through September 30, 2009, total $77,450. Budgeted equipment not purchased consists of 4 desks budgeted at $3,600 which were obtained from surplus equipment instead of new purchases. Through the quarter ending 9/30/2009, the Clinic has purchased $50,000 worth of equipment from the ARRA award of $50,000. Reimbursement will be requested in October 2009. Purchased items include 31 computers at a total cost of $22,376; 40 Cisco phones at a total cost of $12,000; 5 Cisco switches at a total cost of $5,875; and 2 Servers at a total cost of $12,000. Several items were priced slightly differently than the original budget resulting in additional units being purchased. This completes the pediatric remodel project.
