Award Description: Award Title: Collaborative Proposal: Understanding Climate-Driven Phenological Change - Observations, Adaptations and Cultural Implications in Northeastern Siberia and Labrador/Nunatsiavut (PHENARC) Description: This interdisciplinary proposal encompasses a novel approach to systematically document, model, and interpret key linkages between physical, biological and human systems in the context of global and local climate change. PHENARC will employ qualitative and quantitative methods of field study, retrospective investigations, and modeling/synthesis techniques.
Project Description: The overall purpose of PHENARC is to contribute to transformative knowledge of human-climate synergies, add to a systems-level understanding of the functioning of the arctic system, and further efforts to incorporate a human dimensions in natural science systems research. PHENARC intends to develop a replicable and user-friendly model to highlight future scenarios and generate cumulative knowledge to produce a set of resource materials. Project results will be disseminated widely on local, regional and circumpolar levels. PHENARC will share findings with policy makers and in publications including a series of working papers, single- and co-authored articles (both academic and popular) and a monograph .
