Award Description: Electrical and HVAC upgrades Building 35 and Roof Replacement various Buildings Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory, Athens, GA The purpose of this project is to address critical deferred maintenance needs at the research location. The most pressing needs to be addressed as part of this design are indicated below. To insure that the project is bid within the available funds, each item listed below shall be capable of being bid as a separate line item in the construction contract. The design documents must clearly reflect this requirement. ? Replacement of electrical service and mainswitch gear serving the main laboratory facility (Building 35). ? Replacement of electrical distribution panels in Building 35. ? Replacement of exhaust and supply air handling equipment and air distribution systems in Building 35 to include building controls. ? Replacement of Building 35 Chiller ? Replacement of building 35 roof. These buildings are occupied with active research programs ongoing. It is imperative that the work be phased and sequenced to minimize the disruption to the research program. Within 21 days of Notice to Proceed for this design effort the A-E shall meet with the location staff and Engineering Project Manager to present an outline of the sequencing and probable duration of required outages to execute this work. Commissioning is required for this project. The A-E shall provide all services necessary for performance of commissioning in accordance with the requirements described in the SOW. The A-E shall, to the greatest extent possible, incorporate energy efficient criteria consistent with ENERGY STAR® and other FEMP-designated energy efficiency levels into project specifications developed for new construction and renovation. The A-E shall specify environmentally preferable products.

Project Description: Provided 35% design submittal which included hazardous materials assessment, architectural roof design, electrical design to include replacement of main system and total HVAC system. Included with the 35% submittal was a design analysis, construction cost estimate, and drawings. 35% submittal was reviewed with USDA personnel and comments discussed. Next submittal due is 95% design ? due November 30, 2009.
