Award Description: Provide employment and training services combined with cultural activities for Navajo Nation youth. Project will assist youth in need of support costs for school supplies and educational assistance to return to school or remain in school and attain their educational credentials. Basic education will be provided to those students lacking their high school diploma. Support staff will be hired to implement the project.
Project Description: The project was implemented in the quarter of April-June 2009. Summer youth employment was implemented and served 369 participants. Support staff were hired, office buildings, equipment, and office services were procured. Staff orientations were conducted. Work readiness trainings and soft skills training were provided to the summer youth participants.
Jobs Summary: 45 support employees were hired to implement the project throughout the Navajo Nation. 331 participants continued enrollment after 9/30/09. (Total jobs reported: 376)
