Award Description: Design Update for Phase 8 (Power Plant Upgrade) and Phase 9A and 9B (Renovation of Pilot Plant Laboratories) at the Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) - Major Renovation to Eastern Regional Research Center to address deferred maintenance of critical mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, and incidental repairs.
Project Description: Work activities for this quarter have principally involved design update of plans and specifications incorporating conditions verified during a series of site visit/investigations. Designs were revised to incorporate updated codes and standards, changed field conditions. Study and evaluation of the current design was performed to assess the state of overall energy efficiency and to determine if cost effective alternatives existed to enhance overall building energy performance. Energy Efficiency incorporated best management practices for energy and water conservation and provided a simple payback analysis to determine specifically if an energy recovery system can be cost effective for exhaust systems. Work effort also included development of detailed retro and re-commissioning requirements for previous phases of construction, which included site visits of the previous completed phases and discussion of the existing system operation with maintenance and engineering staff; preparation of existing design intent documents.
Jobs Summary: As a result of the Recovery Act funding we managed to create some Engineering and Architectural full time and part time jobs and retain other Architectural, Engineering, administrative & support jobs in the United States. (Total jobs reported: 3)
Project Status: Less Than 50% Completed
