Award Description: The Vermont AARA SCSEP award is to carry out the work involved in managing a statewide SCSEP Grant in conjunction with the regular Vermont State SCSEP grant. And is to run parallel to the regular grant. The ARRA award is to extend service to income eligible people age 55 and over for part time, subsidized training in community service positions. the goal of the program is to provide quick, effective workforce services for Vermont workers, their employers and host training sites in order to promote economic recovery in the growth industries targeted by AARA. Funds provide for approximately 9 slots to be kept filled during the grant period. Outcomes are measured in: a)Community Service b)Entered Employment c) Employment Retention d)Average Earnings d) Service Level e) Service to Most in Need
Project Description: The Vermont SCSEP AARA program is intended to increase the numbers of eligible persons over the age of 55 to gain training opportunities that will lead to employment. Specific to the ARRA, services for training and employment must occur within the industries targeted by AARA and include program workforce development in: healthcare, childcare, education, green jobs, energy efficiency, environmental services, and transportation among others. Strategic recruitment methods are used to access participants to training in these fields. The program is represented across the 14 counties of Vermont with the funded slots being disbursed according to an equitable distribution formula that is based on census data determined by the Federal Department of Labor.
