Award Description: Description The purpose of this award is to expand the existing 9th Street corridor in east Little Rock from its current terminus at Bond Street to the Dassault Falcon Jet facility on the side of the Little Rock National Airport to better provide for the planed expansion of companies in the area. Up to 1,000 jobs in aviation are expected be added in the Little Rock region over the next three to five years. In addition, Dassault Falcon Jet is expanding its completion center in Little Rock by 116,000 square feet and is also doubling the size of its service space. As a result, they have committed to the creation of 300 jobs as a result of this project alone. In addition to this organization, Little Rock National Airport, Hawker Beechraft Services, Custom Aircraft Cabinets, Central Flying Service, Areloe Designs, LLC and Avionices and Systems Group International are expecting increases in employment over the next three to five years. Constructing a new four lane street for access to the industries in the area will enhance productivity and entrepreneurship by providing adequate modes of transportation for larger, commercial vehicles and the significantly increased workforce. Constructing a new four lane street for access to the industries will enhance productivity and entrepreneurship by providing adequate modes of transportation for larger, commercial vehicles and the significantly increased workforce. Quarterly Activities The City of Little Rock's Public Works Department began the appraisal process on July 8, 2009. After which, the department began the process of land acquisition negotiations with owners on September 16, 2009. In addition, the Public Works Department is designing the project in house. The design phase 95% complete.
