Award Description: ARRA COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT (COLA), AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT FUNDING CONSISTENT WITH PROVISIONS OF SECTION 640(a)(5) OF THE HEAD START ACT.
Project Description: Project Description ARRA COLA and Quality Funds will be used to: Hire one full-time Family Service Advocate. Hire one Mental Health Specialist. Hire two Translators. Improve playground accessibility and safety. Provide professional development to teaching staff to improve staff qualifications. Increase the compensation and benefits of staff through a cost of living adjustment to improve the overall quality of the program. Quarterly Activities All staff received cost of living adjustment effective July 1, 2009. Playground equipment bids were received. A partnership was put in place with Columbus State Community College to offer a series of college courses in early childhood development for Head Start. Online Creative Curriculum was purchased for CULHS Centers that enhance the quality of classroom instruction and provides parents with access to their child's progress and assessments.
