Award Description: Support the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge and Idaho to prepare documentation for projects that demolish facilities, remediate soils, and other measures to protect the environment. Involves preparation of basic information about the facilities, determining the cost of demolition or remediation, and fashioning that information into a 'government estimate' for use by DOE in evaluating proposals from the private sector.

Project Description: Developed plans and cost estimates for 25 projects involving demolition of facilities, clean-up actions, remediation of soils, expansion of waste management areas to provide approved waste disposal capacity. Completed procurement packages and received bids or price proposals on most projects. Projects include demolition of over 347,000 square feet of space (corresponding to a footprint reduction of 284,000 square feet), removing materials and equipment to prepare for demolition over one million square feet of excess space, shipment and disposal of 60,000 cubic meters of debris and waste, and site remediation of approximately 16 acres.
