Award Description: Technical Assistance involved with identifying the viability of alternative substrates, WholeTree of Clean Chip Residual for use by several rural nursery and greenhouse growers in the state of Alabama. WholeTree is an alternative substrate consisting of all above-groundportions of a pine tree harvested at the thinning stage; Clean Chip Residual is an alternative substrate created by chipping and milling the biomass left in the forest by thinning and salvage operations.
