Award Description: This grant was awarded in order to rehabilitate Runway 2/20. This includes widening and extending the runway, rehabilitating the existing runway, safety area grading, drainage, installation of new Medium Intensity Runway Lighting (MIRL) and Runway End Identifier Lights (REILS), the relocation of the Precision Approach path indicators (PAPI) and the installation of unlighted signs, segmented circle and lighted wind cone.
Project Description: The safety area grading and drainage, runway reconstruction, widening and extension, including paving and most of the electrical work were completed in this quarter. Over 100,000 CY of excavation/embankment was moved and 6900 tons of base material and 5000 tons of asphalt was placed during this time.
Infrastructure Description: The construction of these improvements will allow the airport to meet the minimum design standards in accordance with the current Airport Layout Plan. This will enhance the safety of the current airport users, allow for expanded use of the airport by encouraging use of the airport by other aircraft, and keep the current airport FBO viable.
