Award Description: Resurface and include a dust palliative on the runway at the Fort Yukon Airport. Correct drainage problems, clear overgrown vegetation and complete other improvements as funding allows.
Project Description: The contractor has completed almost all of the clearing. The contractor is working under an approved SWPPP and some erosion prevention devices have been installed. A six-month winter work stoppage is anticipated between November and April. Material has been stockpiled and equipment has been mobilized.
Infrastructure Description: The project provides employment in an economically distressed area and will provide for improved aircraft operations and maintenance. New airport lighting will improve the safety of operations. Improved infrastructure will benefit access into and out of a remote community.
