Award Description: This project will provide funds to invest in public transportation. Johnson County Transit will use the funds to acquire one low floor 40-foot wheelchair accessible bus. The bus will replace a vehicle that has met its 12-year useful life. The new bus will meet the Clean Air Act standards and the Americans with Disabiliites Act requirements. This project will also provide funds for Johnson County Transit facility improvements that include expansion of the existing bus canopy and concrete replacement. This canopy expansion will provide protection for the buses to extend their useful life.

Project Description: The 40 ft. wheelchair accessible vehicle was delivered and has been fully deployed into service. This vehicle replaced an older vehicle that exceeded its 12-year useful life. The facility improvement project includes an expansion of Johnson County Transit's existing bus canopy that will house an additional 15 vehicles that JCT received in August 2009. The project also includes facility concrete repairs. An RFP for the construction project was issued in August 2009. A pre-bid RFP meeting is scheduled for October 8, 2009.
