Award Description: This grant is funded with 2009 ARRA Fixed Guideway Infrastructure Investment Grant funds apportioned to Honolulu, Hawaii. 1. Purchase 1 60-foot hybrid-electric bus (part of a 20-bus purchase). The replacement bus will be assigned to high-passenger volume routes in both the urban and suburban areas, and may also be used on all-day limited stop express services operations (Routes A and B City Express, and Route C Country Express). The expected useful life of the replacement bus is 12 years or 500,000 miles. A Federal ratio of 100/0 will apply. The bus will meet the Clean Air Act standards and the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. The fleet status section of TEAM reflects this replacement bus. This activity is a categorical exclusion under NEPA. 2. ITS Statement: New radio communication units will be installed in the replacement buses. All radio communication units must be compatible with the existing system currently deployed and in use. The bus radio system project completed final design in 2000 and is exempted from the systems engineering analysis requirements in FTA?s National ITS Architecture policy that took effect on February 7, 2001. However, the radio system is part of the Oahu Regional ITS Architecture and the platform is consistent with the National ITS Architecture. The new fareboxes (part of bus purchase) will be stand-alone units and will not be connected to any electronic, communications, or information system singly or in combination
