Award Description: The overall purpose of this award was to fund 3-4 Scientific Review Officer positions for the National Cancer Institute. The Scientific Review Officers, once hired, attended meetings and summarized the meetings. Upon completion of meetings, prepare summary statement or technical evaluation for each grant/contract project, reflecting the committee members’ recommendations and discussions; complete a critique/narrative of the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed research, which serves as the basis for actions taken by the NCAB and NCI staff, and as basic documentation for funding actions. • Work products and documents related to reviewing grant applications; identify and select reviewers for review teams, including ad hoc groups, committees and site visit teams. • Work products and documents related to developing operating procedures, training programs, orientation for reviewers. • Work products and documents related to scheduling review meetings; prepare materials for reviewers; interact with NCI staff; clarify administrative and policy requirements associated with merit peer review system. • Work products and documents related to ensuring high quality reviews and documentation of applications/proposals’ obtain critiques and/or lists of strengths and weaknesses for submissions as well as numeric scores. • Work products and documents related to preparing summary statements or technical evaluations for each grant/contract project.

Project Description: Summaries were delievered in a timely manner to NCI. 181.5 hours of work was invoiced to NCI.
