Award Description: ARRA - Increase Services to Health Centers
Project Description: Since grant inception on March 27, 2009, we have increased total new patients by 357, increased total new uninsured patients by 293, and increased visits by 834. We have also accomplished our goal of creating a 0.59 FTE Physician's Assistant position to provide additional medical services to homeless individuals and their families. This mid-level provider has joined our mobile medical unit offering primary, preventive, and health maintenance medical services including women's health, chronic disease management, and acute intervention. We have also created a 0.44 FTE IT Staff position which specifically provides on-site technical support for our health information technology, computer hardware, and system connection activities more prevalent among our remote mobile providers. The Center has also taken this opportunity to focus on job retention by using part of this funding to pay a group of 13 providers between a 3% and 5% pay increase over the first grant year.
