Award Description: ARRA - Increase Services to Health Centers
Project Description: Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas (CHC/SEK) designated IDS funds to offset the cost of hiring two family practitioners with OB and supporting staff, joining the CHC/SEK staff on July 31 and August 10; their nurses were hired on July 20 and September 1, respectively. A new biller to serve both providers was hired July 13. All new staff members were given reduced patient loads while they were properly oriented to CHC/SEK and trained on the electronic health record system (installed January 2009). CHC/SEK also has hired a part-time pharmacist and pharmacy technician to extend its in-clinic pharmacy hours.
