Award Description: ECHO Community Healthcare (ECHC) has identified increased need for services in the Evansville area and has responded in the following ways: A.) by increasing FTE’s to our staffing, including a part time Pediatrician, a part time Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, increasing the FTE compliment of a Nurse Practitioner B.) by expanding the hours of operation at one clinic site to date. C.) by supplying our 'Outreach Team with wireless capability to be able to connect to the new Practice Management System and Electronic Medical Record. D.) By adding an EMR Specialist position to the staffing compliment. ECHC has expanded the current FTE compliment by adding to our staff. As a result of increased community need for both pediatric and prenatal care options, ECHC increased our provider staff by .8 FTE which includes a part time Pediatrician and a part time Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. The new Pediatrician began employment with ECHC in August of 2009. The new Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner began employment in September of 2009. Supplemental staff associated with these two positions includes CMA’s, LPN’s and RN’s, all have been hired. Expanded clinic hours were included as a part of ECHC’s ARRA grant funding request. ECHC has expanded operating hours at both the Pediatric and Prenatal Clinic and the Woodson Homeless Health Clinic. This change in operation hours occurred as of August 2009. The Woodson Homeless Health Clinic now offers an additional hour Monday – Friday for patient appointments. ECHC sends an 'Outreach Team into the community to meet the most vulnerable patients at their need. As a result of the ECHC’s new practice management/electronic medical records system, additional hardware and wireless technology capabilities was needed. ECHC was able to add a 1.0 FTE for an 'Electronic Medical Records Specialist position at the Main Campus Clinic on 315 Mulberry Street. This FTE was added during March of 2009. By gaining efficiencies in the front office, the nursing and provider functions move along more smoothly, allowing for increased productivity. As a result of the above changes in operations, ECHC has seen an increase in new patients totaling 2,442 and new uninsured total 1,832. Because there is no way to discern which new patients came to ECHC as a result of ARRA funding, ALL new patient totals have been included.
