Award Description: Education of Homeless Children and Youth, Recovery Act funds are to ensure that all homeless children and youth have equal access to the same free, appropriate public education available to other children.
Project Description: A grant to address the educational and related needs of homeless children and youth through activities authorized under Title VII-B of the McKinney-Vento Act. Activities may include: programs for pre-school-aged homeless children; before- and after-school programs, mentoring, and summer programs with educational activities. The funds also can be used to cover costs associated with tracking, obtaining, and transferring records of homeless children as well as other services.
Jobs Summary: Jobs created or retained include approximately 65 percent classified positions, 15 percent certificated positions, and 20 percent vendor jobs. Certificated positions would include teaching positions and classified positions would be non-teaching positions such as bus drivers, teacher assistants, office staff, district coordinators, and instructional aides.
