Award Description: Pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Charleston County was Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing funding to provide funding to Charleston County residents who are currently homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. This funding is to provide financial assistance, housing relocation and stabilization services, wrap-around services as well as funding to help collect accurate data for reporting.
Project Description: Charleston County will have seven HPRP subrecipients. Six of the Charleston County HPRP subrecipients will provide homeless prevention and rapid re-housing services to individuals and households who are at-risk of becoming homeless due to financial distress or unforeseen events and to place currently homeless individuals into stable, affordable homes. These services will include financial assistance (rent, utility assistance, deposit assistance, moving costs, motel/hotel vouchers) for both those who are homeless and those who are at risk. The program will also offer wrap-around services in the form of case management, financial/credit education, outreach, legal services and housing research and placement. The other subrecipient will be providing HMIS reporting technical assistance, training, and quality assurance monitoring of the other subrecipients to assure accurate of data entered and to assure that the services delivered are eligible HPRP services. All of the assistance provided to the community will be recorded into the AWARDS HMIS system to prevent duplication of services and to assure accurate, efficient data.
