Award Description: This ARRA funding from HRSA was for a New Access Point for a Federally Qualified Health Center in Adair County, Oklahoma. This expansion created a healthcare clinic where prior, there was not one. Adair County is the second poorest county in Oklahoma, with a Health Professional Shortage Area Score of 17 for primary healthcare. Accessing affordable healthcare for these residents was a barrier prior to this funding. This rural city had few buildings able to safely provide a setting for healthcare delivery. NEOCHC purchased a modular unit with reserve funds, the city leased the land for $1.00 per year, the county brought in utilities for free. The entire community has ensured the clinic opening was successful. With these funds Northeastern Oklahoma Community Health Centers opened a health center in Westville, Oklahoma. We began providing services 105 days after funding award. We continue to add services as we find health providers willing to work in a rural setting. The total number of patients served by this site since June 15, 2009 is 286 new patients with a total of 440 patient visits.

We opened with a part-time nurse practitioner until we could employ a new Nurse Practitioner in July 2009. We also employed a Mental Health Provider in July as well. We are seeing on average 15 patients per day and have plans to hire a Family Practice physician when we can locate a candidate.
