Award Description: ARRA Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), and Quality Improvement Funding consistent with the provisions of Section 640(a) (5) of the Head Start Act.
Project Description: ARRA COLA and Quality funds will be used to: Give Head Start employees increased compensation at the rate of 1.84%. Supplement insurance payment of 40 additional dollars, due to health insurance increase in premium. Have Harnett county staff attend 4 day summer institute training.Two Family Service Workers to attend traning to receive Family Support Credentials. Five managers will attend the Leaders Training that supports Family Support Credentials. Have 7 teaching staff enroll in Mt. Olive College leading to B-K certification. Purchase books and literacy materials for classrooms to supplement the Second Step social/emotional program. Training for Pre-Service on homelessness, families in crisis, and how that affects what Head Start does. Replace and repair playground fence at center. Quarterly Activities: Head Start staff has received compensation increase. Supplemental insurance payments are being made. Harnett County Staff has received 4 day training. Seven teachers have enrolled in Mt. Olive College.
