Project Description: An infant/toddler teacher was hired to oversee services for children with special needs and lead classroom sessions. The position has taken the oversight and coordination of services for children identified and referred to Early Intervention. The addition of this position has further strengthen our program by having this position work with teachers, home visitors and parents in individualizing activities in the classrooms and at homes based on the Individualized Family Service Plan. This position also supports the advocacy of services for children and families by educating parents on how to advocate for their children. The program is in the process of planning staff training on the Ounce Scale; this training consists of a series of sessions with assigned activities that includes child observations. The Ounce Scale provides a framework from which to design program planning, relationship building experiences and specific interventions in the classrooms and through home visits. Substitute teachers will be used during this time to allow teaching and home visiting staff to attend these sessions.
