Award Description: The SC Dept of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) will continue statewide and regional 208 WQM planning efforts and improvement through updating the 208 WQM plan for non designated areas of the state, streamline the conformance review process, provide timely conformance reviews and work toward achieving water quality improvements in the Catawba Basin. Provide funds to and work with the six designated COG?s to update their regional plans. DHEC has allocated $118,184 over a two year period toward this effort. SCDHEC will undertake the initial planning efforts around the state to promote water efficiency education for public water systems through promotion of EPA?s WaterSense program. Qualitative data will be gathered on the target audience?s water efficiency and WaterSense knowledge, attitudes and behaviors. This data will be used to develop specific water efficiency/WaterSense outreach and other planning efforts. $15,000 will be allocated toward three focus groups. The designated planning agencies will perform updates to water quality management plans which target needs unique to their area of the state. The RCPO?s are encouraged to include plans for green infrastructure, water efficiency and/or energy efficiency. The RCPO?s will receive $272,316 to accomplish this effort.
