Award Description: Cascade Sierra Solutions was awarded a National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program Grant to fund a retrofit program targeting fleets in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. The general purpose of the grant is to reduce diesel emissions and improve air quality. This project will reduce diesel emissions by retrofitting heavy-duty diesel-powered vehicles with verified aerodynamic technologies. By deploying the technologies on trailers used in long-haul applications it will reduce diesel emissions by approximately 12% at highway speeds. This project will involve a total of 1,554 trailers.
Project Description: During this quarter six trucks were retrofitted with EPA verified aerodynamic technology. Before the installations began, an RFP was sent out to all EPA verified aerodynamic vendors and manufacturers. CSS received a response indicating interest to participate from AT Dynamics, FreightWing, Laydon Composites, NoseCone, Silver Eagle, Transtex, Windyne. Gordon Trucking, a fleet based in Washington, choose the FreightWing, trailer skirt product and began installing the trailer skirts on September 28th. Six of the 1,554 installations have been completed.
