Award Description: 'Head Start: Full Day Handicapped Training and Technical Assistance' Head Start ARRA Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) and Progam Quality Improvement Funding consistent with the provisions of Section 640(a)(5) of the Head Start Act, including tuition and books for staff to earn BA degrees. All Hed Start staff are to receive cost of living increase of 1.84% for a period of one year. The goal for college degrees is to have 18 teachers participate in three college courses each year during the two year period so that many, if not all, will be able to complete the BA degree. To account for those who may drop-out of the program or leave our employ, MVCDC is encouraging as many teachers as possible to participate in the program. Substitutes will be hired to cover the classrooms in the absesse of the teachers.
Project Description: During this quarter we had 56 staff enrolled in college courses where they were completing courses for AA, BA, and Master degrees. During the last month of the quarter we began to implement the 1.84% cost of living increases for all Head Start staff. These were the main goals for the initial quarter.
Jobs Summary: The recipient and sub recipient created a total of 0.23 FTEs during the quarter. The position that we both hired for was classroom substitutes to fill-in in classrooms when teachers are attending college courses. Since this activity did not start until later in the quarter, the hours accumulated for each was limited. The number will increase in future quarters (Total jobs reported: 117)
Project Status: Less Than 50% Completed
