Award Description: ARRA - Increase Services to Health Centers
Project Description: Our project type is to ?Increase Health Center Staffing? in order to expand and deliver comprehensive health services to the vulnerable populations in our service areas. With our IDS award we have created 21 new positions. Of the 21 new positions we have filled three MD positions, one RN position, one Nutritionist position, one Accounts Receivable position, one CPSP position, three Medical Assistants, two Medical Receptionists and one Information Services position. We have recruited additional positions during this second quarter and have filled over 60% of our projects 21 positions. We have expanded service hours and days by opening up an evening (through 8:00 pm) and Saturday (8:00 am ? 4:30 pm) Pediatric Clinic. As a result the three new MD positions and support staff provided 2,029 primary medical care encounters to 1,437 new patients. Of the 1,437 new patients 434 were uninsured. For this same period our total organization provided 23,987 primary medical care encounters to 12,061 new patients. Of the 12,061 new patients 4,347 were uninsured. Progress in our second quarter continues to be very good and we have been able to offer more primary medical care on a more frequent basis. We have been able to increase timely interventions, preventative care and better continuity of care for our vulnerable patient populations. We were able to purchase most of the necessary medical practice supply items to support the increased medical provider and support positions during the first quarter. These supplies include exam room items, exam room and waiting room chairs, and medical workstation items.
