Award Description: Conduct Remedial Action to implement part of Phase IA of the remedial design at the Atlantic Wood Industries Superfund site in Portsmouth, Virginia. The scope of this award includes: 1) excavate soil along the south side of Elm Avenue, 2) construct most of the west and north sides of the sediment containment berm on the west side of the property, and 3) construct a sheet pile wall along the shore line of the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River at the east end of the Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission (PPIC) property just north of the Atlantic Wood Industries facility. Develop a Remedial Action Work Plan, site-specific plans, develop bid packages for solicitation of bids for two remedial action subcontracts (Components 1 and 2 in one and Component 3 in the other, as described above), solicit and award the two subcontracts, and oversee construction of the three remedy components.
Project Description: Attended project scoping meeting with EPA Region 3. Submitted draft Remedial Action Work Plan. In preparation for bidding, developed separate remedial design packages for the Elm Avenue Excavation/West Side Berm construction, and the PPIC sheet pile wall.
