Award Description: The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center is requesting equipment to support a new caBIG compatible Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS). The equipment requested is manufactured by companies, Dell Inc. and Buffalo Technologies Inc., with U.S. headquarters. In addition, the supplement will fund the recruitment of a senior leadership position for oversight of our clinical trials research and fund the creation of three new positions that will expand capacity in our Clinical Protocol and Data Management shared facility. These new resources will enhance our capacity to efficiently and effectively manage cancer clinical trials for Cancer Center clinical research investigators. Utilization of the supplemental funding in this way meets the one of the primary objectives set out by the NCI: Enhancing the activities of the center¿s clinical trials enterprise, including increasing enrollment and the capacity for more rapid completion of trials, including multi-center trials. The addition of personnel and the caBIG CTMS will substantively increase the capacity and productivity of our CPDM facility. Specifically, two of the staff will enhance the CPDM's gynecologic oncology protocol management team that will be supporting our cervical cancer SPORE trial activity.
