Award Description: ARRA Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), and Quality Improvement Funding consistent with the provisions of Section 640(a)(5) of the Head Start Act
Project Description: Project Description: ARRA COLA and Quality Improvement Funds will be used to: Increase the compensation and benefits of staff through a Cost of Living adjustment to improve the overall quality of the program.; Increase funding for parent activities to be able to provide more parent/child activities; Provide additional staff/parent wellness activities; Upgrade classroom materials; Increase the mental health contract in order to improve program quality; Provide professional development to all staff to better assist the children and their families; Hire 5 classroom aides; Hire 1 Family Service Worker; Conduct Facilities Improvements; Purchase additional education and disabilities classroom materials. Quartely Activities: All staff received a cost of living adjustment effective August 1, 2009; A partnership with the local university was developed to offer disabilities training for the education staff; Staff attended the Bridges Out of Poverty training;Facilites improvements were completed that consisted of a fire and security alarm system upgrade and facility painting.
Jobs Summary: Classroom Aides - To help reduce the staff/ratio as well as provide higher quality services. A third person in the classroom will provide the teaching staff additional support, provide for smoother transitions, more one-on-one teacher/child interactions and more effective classroom management. Family Service Worker - to help reduce caseloads. (Total jobs reported: 6)
