Award Description: These funds will support efforts to plan, develop, and maintain a public health infrastructure to help assure high immunization coverage levels and low incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases. The program will partner with health department staff, schools, medical providers, and community to address objectives for reching more children and adults to include: Provide Tdap vaccine to parents of children 19-24 months of age who are missing the fourth dose of DTaP; decrease the percent of children 19-24 months of age who are missing the fourth dose of DTaP from 20% to 10%; provide Tdap vaccine to 27 of 43 birthing hospitals to administer to postpartum patients; provide Tdap vaccine to maternity patients who present to the health department; partner with school districts to conduct adolescent immunization clinics in middle schools; collaborate with the Mississippi Department of Corrections to provide hepatitis B vaccine to 50% of individuals processed at the main correctional facility.
