Award Description: This award is for the State of Alaska to capitalize its revolving fund for the financing of the construction of wastewater treatment facilities and associated infrastructure, green infrastructure, and nonpoint source projects. The primary purposes are to: preserve and create jobs and promote economic recovery through water quality and will provide long term economic benefits.
Project Description: ARRA funds will be used for wastewater infrastructure improvements to ensure compliance with the Clean Water Act and the State?s wastewater rules. Green infrastructure will be added to water systems through use of energy saving and on-site storm water infiltration technologies. Additionally, inflow and infiltration (I&I) correction will be achieved through upgrade and replacement of collection lines and components.
Infrastructure Description: This infrastructure investment will provide for the construction of wastewater treatment facilities within the state of Alaska and stimulate the economy in both urban and rural Alaska by creating jobs and promoting economic recovery.
