Award Description: Tippecanoe County will undertake three projects with the grant funds: Tippecanoe Battlefield Museum Retrofit, Lighting and Energy Audit and Advanced Transportation Management System. The Museum retrofit will inclide installation of new windows and re-design and replace inefficient and outdated heating and cooling equipment. It is anticipated this will increase the energy efficiency of the museum by 35-40%. The Lighting and Energy Audit is to include five Tippecanoe County Government buildings. The initial audit will consider past utility bills, hours of operation, inspection of lighting and determinatin of requirements. A recommendation will be made about retrofits and oversight of material, installation and labor. An overall energy audit will be conducted to ensure that all possible stategies are identified and implemented to reduce energy consumption. Funding will also be used to implement recommendations. THe Advanced Transportation Management System is in partnership with the City of Lafayette. The grant will partially fund the the installation of a centralized traffic management system. The ATMS is a network of computing and communication devices that provide a centralized integration platform for traffic signal control, intelligent system field monitoring and control of traffic data management. This will reduce emissions by reducing idling time for vehicle and moving traffic.
