Award Description: Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant The activities funded by this award will add to the previouly implemented activities that are summarized in the following paragraph. Since the Energy Management program started, Hillsborough County has adopted policies and directives for space temperature settings, lighting levels and the development of Departmental Energy Teams. Implementation of Energy Efficiency Measures include lighting retrofits, building automated control systems, HVAC upgrades and retrofits, traffic signal LED retrofit, ball field lighting retrofit, fleet hybrid vehicles and a central chilled water plant with ice storage. The Energy Management program is tracking savings in the amount of $2,202,473 annually with an equivalent emissions reduction of 17,400.6 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. This reduction is 12.4 percent of the County's total annual consumption of electricity. The County has a goal of energy reduction in the amount of 20 percent by the end of fiscal year 2012.
