Award Description: An award has been made under the U.S. Department of Energy's Recovery Act-Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant - Formula Grant. The City of Spartanburg was awarded $192,900. Funds were to be used for improvements that would improve energy efficieny. Desired grant outcomes include energy efficiency, reduced energy comsumption adn reduced energy costs through effciency improvements; new jobs adn increased productivity to spur economic growth and community development, accelerated deployment of market-ready distributed renewable energy technologies, improved coordination of of energy-related policies and programs, etc. The City of Spartanburg's project was to be used for improvement of the energy efficiency in city owned buildings. The City of Spartanburg will utilized funding to replace occupancy sensors, windows, doors, and heating and air conditioning units.

Project Description: The grant was signed on October 7, 2009, by the City of Spartanburg Manager. All accounts have been established in federal systems. Work has been started on the purchasing of equipment, which will mainly be done through a bidding process.
