Award Description: ARRA - CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM - Central Mississippi Health Services (CMHS), a community health center, provides comprehensive primary to the poor inner city population of Jackson, a MUA within Hinds County, Mississippi. Over the past thirty years, CMHS, has provided low cost/no cost health care for the neediest residents of Jackson. This was first accomplished by becoming a NHSC site; next by achieving FQHC Look-Alike status; and finally by becoming a Section 330 Health Center. CMHS has three sites located throughout Jackson. The proposed CIP Projects have been planned to address capital needs at two of its three sites. First CMHS received its Winter St. site as a gift from Dr. Robert Smith. CMHS’s Robertson Road site was first leased in 2004 and then purchased in 2007. However no funds existed at time of Robertson Rd. purchase to renovate the facility. The planned CIP Projects will allow CMHS to: 1.) Refurbish the Winter St. site, 2.) Modernize Winter St. Equipment, replacing old x-ray equipment by adding Digital X-Ray, Vital Signs Monitors, & telephone equipment. 4.) Refurbish Robertson Rd. site 5.) Expand capacity at Robertson Rd. by adding 4 exam rooms. 6.) Modernize Robertson Rd. Equipment, replacing old x-ray equipment by adding Digital X-Ray, Vital Signs Monitors & Telephone equipment.
